Expert Review: InterContinental Tianjin Yujiapu Hotel & Residences

The InterContinental Tianjin Yujiapu Hotel & Residences, located in Binhai, China, is a Michelin Key Selected property consistently praised for its luxury, exceptional service, and sophisticated design. It offers a refined experience, catering to both business and leisure travelers.

1. Overall Rating & Sentiment

The general consensus for the InterContinental Tianjin Yujiapu Hotel & Residences is overwhelmingly positive. The hotel consistently garners high ratings, often scoring between 8.8 and 9.6 out of 10 on various review platforms. Guests frequently describe their stays as "excellent," "fabulous," and "amazing," highlighting a strong sentiment of satisfaction with the overall experience.

2. Key Highlights

Guests particularly commend the hotel's stunning architecture and elegant design, which some describe as being on "another level." Key highlights include the spacious and beautifully appointed rooms, the attentive and highly professional staff, and the impressive array of facilities. The rooftop bar and a yoga room offering breathtaking views are also frequently mentioned as standout features. The hotel is considered a new landmark in Binhai.

3. Room Quality

Rooms at the InterContinental Tianjin Yujiapu are consistently praised for their quality, comfort, and design. They are notably spacious, often exceeding 500 square feet (50 sq m), and feature elegant interiors. Guests appreciate details such as floor-to-ceiling windows, large and comfortable beds with lovely linen, automatic blinds and curtains, a dedicated desk, and a comfortable settee. Bathrooms are well-appointed, typically including a big bathtub and a separate shower and toilet. River-view rooms are particularly popular.

4. Dining Experience

The dining experience receives strong positive feedback, especially for breakfast. The daily breakfast buffet is described as rich, varied, hygienic, and delicious, offering both continental and extensive Chinese and Western options. The hotel hosts several dining venues, including the upscale Cai Feng Lou Chinese Restaurant, the multifaceted Commune All Day Dining Restaurant with live cooking stations, Commune Bar, Sky Lounge, and Lobby Lounge. Some guests, however, have expressed a desire for more variety in the food offerings from day to day at the buffet. One review noted being rushed during meal service at Commune Dine.

5. Service & Staff

The service and staff are a significant strength of this InterContinental property. Guests frequently commend the staff for being helpful, friendly, polite, professional, attentive, and enthusiastic. Many highlight instances of proactive service, such as complimentary room upgrades to river-view rooms and assistance with children's needs, including providing extra amenities and even charging cables.

6. Location & Accessibility

It boasts excellent accessibility, being adjacent to the Yujiapu high-speed railway station, which provides convenient connections to Beijing and downtown Tianjin. The Yujiabao metro station is also just 900 meters away. Nearby attractions include the Tianjin Binhai Library and Polar Ocean World, both within a 5-minute car ride, and Haihe Bund Park, approximately 1.4 miles away. Tianjin Binhai International Airport is about 20 miles (32 km) from the property.

8. Common Complaints

Despite the overwhelmingly positive feedback, a few recurring minor complaints have been noted. Some guests observed small details related to hygiene, such as dust on desktops. Occasional noise from the air conditioning unit has also been mentioned as a potential disturbance during quiet hours. While breakfast is generally excellent, some guests wished for more variety in the food selections from day to day, particularly in the buffet. One reviewer reported poor soundproofing leading to disturbances from noisy neighbors, and issues with the quality of certain breakfast items like cold soup and improperly soaked noodles.

Was a little disappointed if honest, I stayed at the other Intercontinental which was excellent. Here, the sky bar was not a good experience regarding food and drink 😕 we therefore went outside to find what we required. The only good part of the sky bar was the view.

A Seamless Blend of Luxury and Comfort During my recent solo trip to Tianjin, I had the pleasure of staying at the InterContinental Tianjin Yujiapu Hotel & Residences. From the moment I arrived, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. The hotel's location in the Binhai New Area is both strategic and scenic, offering easy access to the city's attractions. The architecture is modern and in...

Room for improvement. Arrived right before midnight. No bell service only a security guard, who didn’t care to assist with luggage. Came in to the reception where the agent barely bothered to look up from the desk to check me in. Thank you for being ambassador with us, we have upgraded you to our lowest guest room floor.” With noisy construction work going on. Power cut and elevator outage next mo...

Awesome hotel in TEDA, originally designed rooms and interiors, great views and incredible breakfast. Room service is arranged by delivery robots, which makes a lot of fun when you meet then in elevator. Gym is on the top floor, the sky bar as well.

Improvements should be made to the HVAC system in both the room and hallway. I woke up with a stuffy chest, and there was an unpleasant odor in the hallway. Better ventilation is necessary.

Great hotel, friendly staff, a lot variety for breakfast, large rooms with huge beds and a swimming pool, gym and bar on the top floor.
