Hotel Hana, Paris: A Harmonious Blend of Parisian Elegance and Japanese Serenity

Hotel Hana in Paris, a distinguished property within the Michelin Guide selection, offers guests a unique and luxurious experience where French sophistication meets Japanese tranquility. Guests consistently praise its thoughtful design, exceptional service, and prime location, making it a highly-rated destination in the heart of the city.

1. Overall Rating & Sentiment

Hotel Hana enjoys a largely "Fabulous" to "Excellent" overall sentiment, with an average score of 8.6 out of 10 from numerous reviews. Travelers frequently describe it as "amazing," "comfortable," and "luxurious," highlighting its ability to provide a peaceful and quiet retreat despite its central location.

2. Key Highlights

Guests are particularly captivated by several aspects of Hotel Hana:

  • Design & Ambiance: The hotel's Japonisme-inspired aesthetic, orchestrated by architect Laura Gonzalez and creative director Olivier Leone, is a consistent highlight. It masterfully blends Belle Époque maximalism with Eastern minimalism, featuring iroko wood, woven straw, lacquer-finish cabinetry, and cherry blossom embroidery. The atmosphere is often described as serene, cozy, and relaxing.
  • Service & Staff: The staff is frequently lauded as extremely friendly, attentive, professional, and accommodating, often going above and beyond, including complimentary room upgrades.
  • Location: Its central location near the Opéra Garnier, the Bourse, and Paris' "Little Tokyo" (Rue Sainte-Anne) is highly advantageous for shopping, sightseeing, and dining.
  • Amenities: The hotel boasts an indoor pool and a full-service spa offering Japanese-inspired treatments, providing a tranquil escape. Private parking is also available and appreciated by guests.

3. Room Quality

The 26 rooms and suites at Hotel Hana are celebrated for their comfort, thoughtful design, and serene atmosphere. Guests describe them as well-decorated and cozy, with many finding them spacious for Parisian standards. Rooms feature comfortable beds, well-appointed bathrooms with great water pressure, and luxurious Diptyque toiletries, bathrobes, and slippers. Amenities include Nespresso machines and a curated minibar with unique Japanese teas and snacks. Some rooms offer charming Juliet balconies with views of the bustling streets or even the Sacré-Cœur from higher floors. Soundproof walls ensure a quiet stay despite the central location.

4. Dining Experience

The hotel's restaurant, Hanabi, is a significant draw, offering an inventive French-Japanese fusion culinary experience curated by Shirley Garrier of The Social Food. The menu features "Japanised" French classics and is praised for its delicious food, fabulous menu, and impeccable service. Dishes like camembert tempura with Aonori seaweed and yuzu jam, sea urchin cacio e pepe udon, and hojicha tiramisu are noted as creative and enjoyable. The lobby bar also offers a thoughtful selection of sakes and Japanese-influenced cocktails. Breakfast is available for a fee (approximately €35 for adults) and includes a continental spread with pastries and Hanabi-style dishes, with the matcha latte being particularly praised.

A city tax of €11.70 per person per night also applies. Given its 5-star rating, unique design, and high level of service, guests often find the experience worthwhile.

8. Common Complaints

While overwhelmingly positive, some minor recurring criticisms have been noted:

  • Room Size: A few guests have found the standard rooms to be on the smaller side, though others noted Deluxe rooms were spacious enough for a cot.
  • Bathroom Design: One guest mentioned a lack of an enclosed shower in their room, resulting in a wet bathroom floor, though this might not apply to all rooms.
  • Noise: Isolated comments mentioned hearing the metro with some frequency in certain rooms, particularly from 5:30 AM to 11 PM.
  • Maintenance Issues: A single review reported issues with lukewarm shower water and dim lighting in their room, alongside a perceived lack of apology from staff.
  • Hotel Scent: One guest suggested adding a distinct welcoming scent to the lobby upon arrival.

The Prestige room was absolutely stunning and the champagne and cake I ordered was ready upon arrival. The bar downstairs is so cosy and the perfect place for a drink before dinner. And the breakfast was incredible. It was all brought to the ...

Visited with my boyfriend for a long weekend and had an amazing stay. Great location and great hotel vibes. The service was really helpful and friendly. There was just a miscommunication when we tried to book the pool privately, so I suggest you book it at the reception and not via Whatsapp. Apart from this, the hotel is worth a stay!
