Guests consistently praise the hotel for its serene ambiance, personalized service, and unique blend of tropical charm and modern elegance.

Overall Rating & Sentiment

The overall sentiment for Boardwalk Boutique Hotel Aruba is overwhelmingly positive, reflecting its Michelin Two-Keys status. Guests frequently describe it as an "amazing place," "top notch," and an "incredible experience". It's celebrated as a "hidden paradise" and "best hotel in Aruba," with a notable 9.6 "exceptional" rating on Booking.com. The hotel is cherished as a "private oasis," offering a tranquil escape from the busier high-rise resorts.

Key Highlights

Guests consistently laud several aspects of Boardwalk Boutique Hotel Aruba:

  • Service & Staff: The staff receives widespread praise for being "top notch," "helpful," "incredibly kind," "delightful and accommodating," and "stellar". Many guests appreciate the personalized attention, with staff remembering their names and going "above and beyond" to ensure a pleasant stay. The absence of "island time" in service delivery is a refreshing highlight.
  • Location: Situated on a former coconut plantation, the hotel offers a lush, tropical setting just a short 3 to 5-minute walk from Palm Beach. While not directly beachfront, it boasts a dedicated beach area with complimentary palapas and lounge chairs, complete with attentive service and a convenient shuttle bus. Its location slightly off the main strip provides a peaceful oasis while still being within walking distance or a short drive to numerous restaurants, bars, and shops.
  • Design & Ambiance: The hotel's vibrant, colorful, and eclectic design, combined with its lush tropical gardens, creates a serene and intimate atmosphere. It offers a refreshing alternative to larger resorts, emphasizing local charm and a "barefoot luxury" experience.
  • Amenities: The property features two expansive pools (open 24/7), private patios with BBQs and hammocks for each casita, and complimentary beach equipment like snorkeling gear. Other amenities include a yoga deck, fitness center, and a treatment room.

Room Quality

The accommodations at Boardwalk Boutique Hotel Aruba are referred to as "casitas," rather than standard rooms, offering a unique and personalized experience. There are 49 individually designed casitas, each described as "clean, crisp, fresh, and spotless". The decor features bright, breezy tropical pastel colors, local art, and Caribbean-inspired design elements.

Each casita is well-equipped, featuring kitchenettes or full kitchens, air conditioning, and private patios with barbecues and hammocks. Some casitas also boast unique features such as private plunge pools or outdoor showers, enhancing the tropical living experience. Sleeping arrangements typically include comfortable king or queen beds.

Dining Experience

The hotel features The Coco Café, an on-site restaurant and bar that offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food is highly praised as "healthy and delicious," with options made from fresh, local ingredients. Guests particularly enjoy breakfast, with offerings like acai bowls and a "Nourish Benny" (a take on Eggs Benedict). A convenient feature is the ability to order breakfast and coffee through the hotel's app for delivery directly to your casita patio. The café is also noted for accommodating special dietary needs, such as gluten allergies. Additionally, guests can order food and drinks from the neighboring Ritz Carlton at a 15% discount.

Service & Staff

The service at Boardwalk Boutique Hotel Aruba is a standout feature, consistently described as "top-notch" and "stellar". The staff, often praised as "incredibly kind," "delightful and accommodating," and "super competent," are known for their personalized approach, often addressing guests by name. This family-run and locally owned hotel fosters a warm, friendly, and intimate atmosphere, with staff going "above and beyond" to ensure guest satisfaction. From assisting with local dinner recommendations to arranging car rentals, the team is noted for their proactive and attentive hospitality.

Location & Accessibility

The Boardwalk Boutique Hotel Aruba is strategically located in Palm Beach, offering a tranquil "private oasis" ambiance by being slightly set back from the main tourist strip. It is nestled within a lush, former coconut plantation, providing a naturally beautiful setting. Palm Beach, renowned as one of Aruba's best beaches, is just a short 3 to 5-minute walk away. The hotel provides a dedicated beach area next to the Ritz Carlton, equipped with palapas, sunbeds, and beach service, and guests can reserve palapas in advance. A complimentary shuttle bus also offers convenient transport to the beach. The hotel is approximately 20 minutes from the airport, and while walking to nearby restaurants and shops along the main strip is possible (around 20-25 minutes), a 5-minute drive is an alternative. Renting a car is often recommended for those wishing to explore the wider island. The property itself is gated and offers ample parking.

Value & Pricing

Boardwalk Boutique Hotel Aruba is generally considered a worthwhile "splurge" for travelers seeking a thoughtful and authentic Aruban experience. Pricing can vary significantly based on the room type and season, with rates typically ranging from $350 to over $600 per night. Recent searches indicated prices starting from $668 for a single night, and even ranging between $758 and $1,223 in a recent two-week period, highlighting the premium nature of the stay. The hotel offers a "Stay Longer & Save" package, providing discounts of up to 15% for stays of five nights or more. Various romance and babymoon packages are also available, enhancing the value for specific travel occasions.

Common Complaints

While overwhelmingly positive, a few minor points have been noted by guests:

  • The hotel is not directly oceanfront, though it mitigates this by offering a dedicated beach area with service and a shuttle.
  • Some guests have mentioned that while the landscaping provides privacy, casitas are not entirely secluded, and blackout shades might be needed for complete privacy.
  • There have been instances of slow drink service at the beach, with wait times potentially exceeding 45 minutes; guests suggest bringing their own cooler with drinks as an alternative.
  • One review, which the hotel indicated might have been for a different property, mentioned issues like a lack of conditioner, visible mold, and an unauthorized entry by maintenance, as well as inconsistent Wi-Fi in the bedroom. However, given the hotel's strong reputation for cleanliness and service, and the property's response, this may be an anomaly or misattribution.

I stayed at the Boardwalk Resort (Casita #7) 23 years ago with my mother. It is now the Boardwalk Boutique Hotel Aruba. It was spectacular then, and it is spectacular now. I didn't think it was possible for it to get any better, but it did. This trip to Aruba was in memory of my mother, Virginia, who passed away before we could return to our beloved Boardwalk. Casita #7 no longer exists, but ...

This resort is (literally) a hidden gem. It's across the street from the Ritz, so not technically on the beach. Yet it has its own beach area with palapas and food & drink service. So, beachfront vibes without beachfront prices. First - the staff is incredible. I accidentally booked for the wrong dates and didn't realize it until the day they expected me to arrive. They were so generous and ...

This hotel is an absolute gem! My husband and I came for our honeymoon and stayed for a week. I think every place we stay from now on - we will compare it to Boardwalk. Everything was 10/10 - and if you are gluten free, the Coco Cafe is a wonderful option. We will miss it here but will 100% be back. You will not regret staying at this hotel!

My husband and I recently returned from our honeymoon, where we were lucky to be able to spend almost 10 days at this wonderful hotel! If I could give 100 stars I would! From the very moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so comfortable. We stayed in a beautiful casita at the back of the property that was very clean, and perfect for our trip. The cleaning and maintenance staff were truly grea...

The hotel was lovely, such a cute alternative to the typical large-scale hotels. It even felt like you were on a private island within the property. The staff overall was great. One of our servers (female) at the Coco Café was a bit rude, and the food there was pretty average, which was disappointing. Our room also didn’t have cream or sugar, which was odd since everything else was fully stocked, ...
