Guests frequently describe their stays as "incredible" and an "experience we'll cherish forever," highlighting the hotel's ability to create a luxurious yet welcoming atmosphere.

1. Overall Rating & Sentiment

The general consensus for Badia Hill is overwhelmingly positive, with guests frequently awarding top marks for cleanliness, comfort, facilities, staff, and value for money. The hotel is often described as an "alpine-modern masterpiece" and a "luxury boutique hotel" that offers a first-rate holiday experience. Reviewers emphasize the blend of modern design with a homely feel, creating a serene and sophisticated retreat.

2. Key Highlights

Guests consistently laud several aspects of Badia Hill:

  • Design & Ambiance: The hotel boasts a flawless alpine-modern design, characterized by elegant and spacious communal areas, harmonious lighting, and nature-inspired accents. Floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the hotel ensure guests can enjoy panoramic Dolomites views from almost every space. Natural materials like wood and stone contribute to a cozy and sophisticated atmosphere.
  • Rooftop Wellness Area & Infinity Pool: A significant draw is the rooftop spa, which includes an infinity pool and various saunas (including a Finnish whisky sauna) offering spectacular 360-degree views of the Dolomites. This area is frequently mentioned as a highlight, providing a perfect spot for relaxation.
  • Culinary Excellence: The diverse gastronomic offerings, particularly the Michelin-starred Porcino Restaurant, are a major draw. The hotel owners, Marco (chef) and Michaela (maître and sommelier), have crafted a unique culinary experience.
  • Courteous and Attentive Staff: Time and again, guests commend the staff for their exceptional friendliness, politeness, and attentiveness, contributing significantly to the overall positive experience.

3. Room Quality

Badia Hill features 33 rooms and suites, designed with a soothing color palette and a blend of minimalist aesthetics with elegant accents. All rooms come with balconies, offering guaranteed views of the Dolomites. Standard amenities include walk-in showers, safety deposit boxes, and mini-fridges stocked with water and prosecco. Suites offer additional luxuries such as private saunas and even jacuzzis with panoramic views. While some smaller rooms (e.g., 25m2) are described as "snug," they are nonetheless comfortable, with beds often positioned to face the mountains and forests. Rooms are serviced daily, and branded toiletries are provided. Some guests noted the absence of kettles or coffee machines in rooms, though kettles might be available upon request.

4. Dining Experience

The dining experience at Badia Hill is a significant highlight, offering a range of culinary options:

  • Ristorante Porcino: This fine-dining restaurant, inspired by the porcini mushroom, has been awarded a Michelin star. It offers refined dishes that celebrate the region, with innovative and creative cuisine. The ambiance is sophisticated, and the wine list features over 700 labels, curated by sommelier and owner Michaela.
  • Bistro Badia Hill: For a more casual yet captivating atmosphere, the Bistrò offers a menu blending Italian and local cuisine, often focusing on sharing plates and seasonal ingredients. It's also known for themed evenings with live music, and a wide selection of custom-made cocktails and wines.
  • Stube: This intimate and traditional setting provides a cozy nook for enjoying a delicious cheese fondue.
  • Breakfast: The breakfast buffet is highly rated, featuring a rich and varied selection of homemade cakes and pastries, fresh fruit juices, local cheeses and cold cuts, house-smoked salmon, muesli, fresh fruit, and made-to-order egg specialties. Guests appreciate the quality of products and the opportunity to enjoy breakfast with a breathtaking view of the Dolomites. Gluten-free and dairy-free options are also available.

5. Service & Staff

The service at Badia Hill is consistently praised as exceptional, with staff described as "incredibly kind," "friendly," "polite," and "attentive." Guests often feel a warm, familiar atmosphere, almost like staying at a friend's house, a testament to the dedication of the owners, Michaela and Marco. The hotel operates with a somewhat informal check-in process, aiming for a more relaxed guest experience in the lounge and bar area rather than a traditional staffed reception. While this model generally works, some guests noted that staff could occasionally be hard to locate.

6. Location & Accessibility

Badia Hill is a stylish mountain retreat located in Badia, Alta Badia, in the heart of the Italian Dolomites. Its hillside perch provides sweeping views of Val Badia and the surrounding Fanes and Puez mountain groups. The hotel offers free underground parking. It is accessible from the main road (SS244) in Val Badia.

For winter sports enthusiasts, the hotel is walking distance to the Santa Croce chairlift valley station and provides a free ski bus service to the La Crusc and Sponata ski lifts, complete with private heated lockers for equipment. In summer, guests can easily access hiking trails and e-bike rentals are available. Bolzano Airport is approximately 87 km away, with shuttle services available.

7. Value & Pricing

While specific pricing can vary, rates at Badia Hill reportedly start from EUR 310 per night. Guests generally consider the value for money to be "outstanding" and "more than fair," especially given the luxurious amenities, exceptional service, and high-quality culinary experiences. The hotel is seen as a worthwhile splurge for a unique and memorable Dolomites experience.

8. Common Complaints

While overwhelmingly positive, a few minor criticisms have been noted:

  • Lack of Staffed Reception: The unconventional approach to reception, with no dedicated staffed desk, occasionally made it difficult for some guests to locate assistance.
  • Room Amenities: A few guests mentioned the absence of kettles or coffee machines in their rooms.
  • Bathroom Fixtures: One guest reported inconvenient sink design with a fixed faucet and an overhead showerhead that sprayed in various directions, possibly due to limescale.
  • No Half-Board Option: Some guests, accustomed to half-board options in other regional hotels, expressed a wish for this to be available at Badia Hill.
  • Not ideal for young children: Badia Hill is designed with adults in mind for relaxation and fun, welcoming families with children aged 12 and above. The sauna, being a nudist area, is not accessible to under 16s, and the pool can be used until 5 pm.

We had a marvellous stay at Badia Hill. The hotel style is very modern but it feels warm and cosy. It is elegant without being stiff and it has been decorated with great taste. The staff is extremely professional, polite , friendly and helpful. The food is simply excellent! We tried 2 restaurants: the Bistro and the Fondue and both were outstanding. Unfortunately we couldn't try the Michelin star...

Amazing luxurious hotel. The spa and pool area is a real highlight, always spotless, never too busy, and you can order food and drinks here. The rooms are beautiful and beds very comfortable. Lovely big shower and beautiful view - we slept very well here. I also used the gym facilities on a rainy day - it could probably do with a treadmill and a few mats for floor work, but great to have the opt...

The hotel is serene with exceptional views. The pool is one of the best I have ever seen and so is the spa area! This is a must do for a trip to this location. The staff are super super super amazing and friendly. The important thing for me was they harvest their food from local farms and ensure it’s organic!

Nice, feels new hotel. But I can understand why its only 4 stars and not 5. It falls on the small things that can change the experience. The rooms are nice, but there is no privacy. They are facing the main road, and also the balconies are shared. But they are very quiet even though the privacy thing, The staff in the reception are nice, but not the best professional. I asked for a sewing kit and...

We arrived to Süd Tirol with very flexible plans. We were blessed with a forecast of sun and warm weather, so decided to find somewhere with a pool - but also wanted a wellness area with steam room and breakfast and parking included. We also wanted to stay somewhere modern. Badia hill ticked all the boxes, and was also well priced compared to other options with a large heated pool. Sitting outsid...
